TERESA SERIO LOMBARDO March 11, 1920 September 23, 2009 Teresa, beloved mother of Angie (Peter) Janz and nonna of Chris and Peter Janz Jr., passed away on September 23, 2009 at the age of 89, with her daughter at her side. Teresa was predeceased by her husband Onofrio in 1978. She is survived by one brother Guiseppe (Maria) Serio of Italy and many nieces and nephews. Teresa was born in Termini Imerese, Italy. In 1953 she and her young daughter made the long journey to Canada to join her husband Onofrio to start a new life in Winnipeg. Once settled in Winnipeg, Teresa became a seamstress at Monarch Wear. She was devoted to her faith, always demonstrating great strength and profound conviction while dealing with all of life's struggles and difficulties. Teresa was a dedicated mother and nonna who enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, crocheting and sewing but her biggest joy of all was caring for her grandsons. She was a kind, generous and loving mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by all those who knew her. The family would like to thank the staff at Vista Park Lodge for their caring and compassion towards Teresa and her family for the past five years. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, September 28, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Ave., with viewing one half hour prior to the Mass with Father Sam Argenziano officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at St. Mary's Cemetery on Osborne St. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0C9.
